Marriott Root Beer Float Day supports Johns Hopkins Children’s Center!

In 1927, J. Willard and Alice Marriott opened the first Hot Shoppes, a local A&W root beer stand in Washington D.C. with “good food and good service”. As business increased, the Marriott’s made a historic shift into the hotel business in 1957, opening the world’s first motor hotel. Bill Marriott, J. Willard and Alice Marriott’s son, opened the hotel, leading Marriott into the diverse global enterprise that it is today and became the visionary CEO whose leadership transformed the hospitality industry.

In recognition of its humble beginnings and in support of Children’s Miracle Network, Marriott International has hosted an annual Root Beer Float Day for local CMN Hospitals for over 35 years.

Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that raises funds for local children’s hospitals, medical research, and community awareness. CMN Hospitals strive to fill the gaps that Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover, raising more than $5 billion For The Kids each year.

During the week of August 5th, Marriott International Hotels in Baltimore, Maryland will be hosting their National Root Beer Float Days for Baltimore’s local CMN Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Guests will be offered a Root Beer Float in exchange for a donation to help the kids at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. All funds raised at the Marriott locations below will stay 100% local and go toward the greatest need at the Children’s Center:
