Happy Transplant Nurses Week!

To celebrate Transplant Nurses Week we wanted to introduce you to Tina Thomas!👩🏾‍⚕️ She’s a NP and our post-liver transplant coordinator. She has been at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for 4 years this June! Her days are filled with non-stop care for the patients – whether she’s rounding or in clinic, or behind the scenes reviewing labs, consulting with different pediatric teams, or coordinating a plethora of other tests or services for our patients; her days are dedicated to making sure that our patients, families, and their brand new livers are safe and healthy.🩺🩻🤕

We asked Tina why she chose this career path and this is what she had to say, “I absolutely love being a liver transplant NP! First of all, the liver is a magical organ. The fact that a living person can donate part of their liver to a child and both their liver and the child’s liver grows to full size amazing. Second, these kids are SO resilient and not to mention, adorable. It’s an honor to get to be with them through their transplant experience, from the actual surgery to the hospital stay afterward to many years of clinic visits and phone calls; their family is a part of our family, and it’s such a special bond. I know my career will stay and continue to grow in liver transplant.”👧🏻🧒🏼👦🏽

Happy Transplant Nurses Week!🎉🥼
